Electrical Design Engineer - Power Electronics

About the role

AYES, an international engineering and technology consulting company, is looking for an Electrical Design Engineer to help develop advanced power conversion systems. The role suits someone with a strong background in electrical design, EPLAN and low-voltage systems, able to work on complex industrial applications in a multidisciplinary engineering environment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain electrical schematics using EPLAN, ensuring accurate and reliable designs.
• Design electrical circuits and architectures for power conversion systems, focusing on low-voltage and auxiliary circuits.
• Select and size electrical components such as circuit breakers, contactors, power supplies, cables and protection devices.
• Perform electrical calculations including cable sizing, load analysis and protection coordination.
• Prepare technical documentation, electrical drawings, specifications and Bills of Materials (BOM).
• Work with the Power Electronics, Mechanical, Hardware and Software teams throughout development.
• Ensure compliance with IEC, UL and industry standards, supporting testing and commissioning.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• 3-5 years of experience in electrical design, preferably in power electronics or industrial applications.
• Fluent English, written and spoken.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in EPLAN for electrical schematic design.
• Solid knowledge of low-voltage components, protection devices and distribution systems.
• Hands-on experience in electrical dimensioning, cable sizing and load calculations.
• Familiarity with electrical design standards and technical documentation.
• Nice to have: experience with power converters, AC/DC systems, inverters, UPS or industrial drives; medium-voltage systems; electrical testing, validation or commissioning.
