Engineer – Engine Room (m/f/d)

About the role

River Advice AG is seeking a dedicated Engineer to maintain and monitor all machinery, facilities and equipment aboard its river passenger ships. You will work closely with the Captain and 2nd Captain to ensure safe, efficient operation of the engine room throughout each cruise.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes and general equipment upkeep independently.
• Monitor waste‑water tanks, drinking‑water quality, and engine‑room safety hazards.
• Maintain accurate daily logs for fuel, lubricating oil, hydraulic oil, temperatures, pressures and operating hours.
• Coordinate ordering of expendable items (air filters, light bulbs, etc.) and keep the engine‑room stocked.
• Oversee bunkering operations and ensure proper documentation of fuel levels.
• Record all repairs, part replacements and defects, and hand over reports to the Captain.
• Ensure adequate lighting and secure gangway placement, especially in low‑visibility conditions.

Required profile

• Ability to work independently and follow safety procedures.
• Strong attention to detail for log‑book entries and inventory checks.
• Good communication skills to report issues promptly to the Captain and crew.
