Engineering Manager – Equipment Development

About the role

The Equipment Development Engineering function creates manufacturing equipment, automation and software solutions that enable safe, reliable and scalable production. Based onsite in Lausanne, the Engineering Manager leads a multidisciplinary team that bridges R&D and Operations to deliver robust, cost‑effective manufacturing solutions from concept to high‑volume production.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop a high‑performing engineering team across multiple technical disciplines, aligning priorities with site and global strategies.
• Partner with R&D, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain and Global Engineering to accelerate product launches and ensure manufacturing readiness.
• Drive development and deployment of advanced manufacturing equipment and automation solutions, supporting the site’s automation roadmap.
• Oversee equipment design, qualification, validation and transfer to manufacturing, ensuring cost‑effective, scalable solutions.
• Guide process development for new products and technology platforms, providing technical leadership for industrialization and transfers.
• Monitor performance through quality, delivery, cost and innovation metrics, establishing strong governance for engineering projects.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Biomedical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 10 years of engineering experience in medical devices or high‑volume industries such as microelectronics, automotive or pharma.
• At least 5 years of people‑leadership experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Proven experience in product industrialization, process development, manufacturing engineering or automation.
• Strong project and stakeholder management capabilities.

What we offer

• Competitive salary range CHF 144,000 – 216,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications.
