Extraordinary Professorship in Translational MR-Methodology

About the role

The University of Bern seeks an internationally recognised leader to head the Translational MR‑Methodology programme within its interdisciplinary MR‑Methodology Group. The role combines cutting‑edge research on high‑field magnetic resonance imaging with close collaboration across clinical departments and industry partners.

Key responsibilities

• Lead research and development in high‑field MRI (including 7 Tesla) and MR‑sequence design.
• Integrate projects within the Translational Imaging Center Bern (TIC) and foster clinical collaborations.
• Secure competitive external funding and maintain a strong publication record.
• Supervise PhD students and contribute to innovative teaching and learning concepts.
• Develop and maintain partnerships with industry and international research networks.

Required profile

• Internationally recognised expertise in high‑field imaging (7 Tesla) and MR‑sequence development.
• Background in physics with a clinical technology pathway, or an MD‑PhD with relevant training.
• Habilitation or equivalent academic record.
• Demonstrated success in obtaining external funding and publishing in high‑impact journals.
• Strong teamwork skills and willingness to collaborate with clinical disciplines.
