Facility Manager – Basel Area

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Facility Manager to lead the day‑to‑day operations of a scientific organisation’s laboratory and office premises in the Basel area. You will ensure that all infrastructure, technical services and vendor relationships operate smoothly and comply with strict regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily facility operations, infrastructure, and support systems.
• Coordinate maintenance, repairs and improvement projects, including HVAC, utilities and environmental monitoring.
• Manage external service providers, maintenance contractors and calibration partners.
• Maintain equipment inventories, support asset lifecycle management and handle waste disposal, including hazardous materials.
• Lead purchasing activities, negotiate with suppliers, process quotations and allocate invoices before finance approval.
• Administer purchasing, inventory and laboratory management software, and oversee the company vehicle fleet.
• Support compliance activities within a regulated laboratory environment.

Required profile

• Apprenticeship, technical qualification or Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in facility management, maintenance or technical operations.
• Proven experience managing external contractors and service providers.
• Strong organisational, negotiation and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities.
• Fluent in German and English.
• Valid driving licence and eligibility to work in Switzerland and the EU.
