Finance Assistant (Temporary Junior Officer)

About the role

The Finance Assistant supports the Finance and Budget Section of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in Geneva. Working under the Finance Officer, the role contributes to budget preparation, expenditure reporting and financial back‑stopping of trust funds.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in preparing budget proposals, cost estimates and supporting documentation for staff and non‑staff requirements.
• Extract data from UMOJA, generate expenditure reports, perform preliminary analysis and highlight concerns.
• Prepare commitments and payment actions in UMOJA, verify fund availability and correct account usage.
• Support financial back‑stopping of trust funds, monitor voluntary contributions and generate donor reports.
• Review and correct monthly expenditure reports for field offices and process related transactions.

Required profile

• Professionalism: knowledge of UN financial rules, ability to maintain accurate records and resolve data discrepancies.
• Planning & Organising: set clear goals, prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently.
• Accountability: take ownership of responsibilities, deliver outputs on time and comply with regulations.

Required skills

• Experience with the UMOJA ERP system.
