Full-Stack Software Engineer – Graduate (Python/React)

About the role

The CERN Document Server (CDS) is building a next‑generation web platform on InvenioRDM. As a Graduate Full‑Stack Software Engineer you will help design, develop and maintain the platform that enables researchers to archive, publish and share software, data and documents.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain web applications using Python (Flask) on the backend and React on the frontend.
• Implement new features that support archiving, publication and sharing of research outputs.
• Assist in migrating existing content to the new digital platform while ensuring data quality.
• Write, test and review code to guarantee reliability, performance and maintainability.
• Collaborate with engineers and end‑users to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Document technical implementations and contribute to user and developer documentation.

Required profile

• Experience with Python and web development frameworks such as Flask.
• Basic knowledge of JavaScript and modern UI libraries, preferably React.
• Familiarity with Git version control.
• Ability to write clear, maintainable code and quickly learn new technologies.
• Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL) and search/indexing tools (Elasticsearch or OpenSearch).
• Exposure to container technologies (Docker) and platforms (OpenShift) is a plus.
• Previous contributions to open‑source projects are advantageous.
• Fluent English; willingness to learn French.
• Eligible national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State, with up to two years of professional experience after a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree.
