Head of CAPEX 80-100%

About the role

Lonza is looking for a Head of CAPEX (80-100%) based in Visp to take ownership of the site's entire capital investment portfolio. The role covers the planning, governance and execution of strategic investment projects, leading multidisciplinary teams and delivering complex engineering and infrastructure programs. It carries full operational and financial responsibility for the Visp CAPEX portfolio, from concept through engineering, construction, commissioning, qualification and handover, in line with GMP and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the full Visp CAPEX portfolio (CHF 15-40M p.a.), ensuring projects are prioritised, resourced and delivered in line with strategic business objectives.
• Provide leadership and development for a team of project managers and engineering professionals.
• Own investment planning and CAPEX budgeting, preparing recommendations and business cases for Site Leadership and senior stakeholders.
• Ensure projects are executed safely, on time, within budget and compliant with GMP and quality standards.
• Act as the main interface between Engineering, Operations, Quality, EHS, Procurement and Global Functions.
• Manage external engineering partners, contractors and suppliers, including contract management, commercial negotiations and claims resolution.
• Drive continuous improvement of engineering and investment strategies to optimise costs and strengthen asset reliability.

Required profile

• Degree in Engineering (Process, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, or a comparable technical discipline); project management qualifications are an advantage.
• Extensive experience leading large-scale CAPEX projects and investment programmes in a regulated industry, ideally pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, chemicals or another GMP-compliant environment.
• Proven leadership of multidisciplinary teams and experience managing external engineering partners, EPCM contractors and vendors.
• Fluent German and English.
