Head of Data Science & Credit Risk

About the role

This senior leadership position sits at the intersection of machine learning, credit risk, and financial inclusion. Based in Switzerland, you will define and scale the core decisioning systems that power lending across multiple Southeast Asian markets, driving both growth and risk discipline.

Key responsibilities

• Define and lead the end‑to‑end data science and credit risk strategy, including underwriting models and portfolio risk frameworks.
• Design, develop, and deploy advanced ML models for credit scoring, fraud detection, segmentation and customer value optimization.
• Build real‑time decisioning pipelines that support scalable credit underwriting across markets.
• Establish MLOps standards for model deployment, monitoring, versioning and performance tracking.
• Lead portfolio risk analytics, stress testing, expected credit loss modeling and early‑warning systems.
• Partner with finance, product and operations to optimise unit economics, provisioning and capital allocation.
• Translate complex analytical outputs into clear insights for senior leadership and board discussions.
• Recruit, mentor and develop a high‑performing team of data scientists and risk analysts.

Required profile

• 10+ years of experience in data science, machine learning and consumer credit risk within fintech, digital lending, BNPL or EWA environments.
• Proven track record of building, deploying and maintaining production ML models in real‑time decisioning systems.
• Strong experience managing credit portfolios and designing credit policies across single or multi‑market settings.
• Deep expertise in statistical modelling and machine‑learning techniques.
