Information and Evidence Management Intern

About the role

The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) is seeking an intern to support its Information System and Digital Support Section in Geneva. The role focuses on managing digital evidence and conducting open‑source investigations that underpin human‑rights inquiries worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in coordination of digital data/evidence collection, processing, analysis, review, preservation and open‑source investigation for human‑rights inquiries.
• Conduct research on emerging technology trends related to digital data handling, archiving and open‑source investigations.
• Support development of online training materials and modules for staff and partners.
• Help deploy and test modern investigative technical tools and infrastructure, ensuring proper application of digital forensic principles.
• Provide expert support to commissions of inquiry, fact‑finding missions and field presences, including customized solution development.

Required profile

• Graduate or final‑year student in ICT, computer science, digital forensics, data science, analytics, statistics, information management or a related field.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of French or another UN official language is an advantage.
• Demonstrated interest in UN work, ability to work with diverse cultural backgrounds, and availability for a 3‑month internship (extendable to 6 months) starting between November 2026 and March 2027.
