About the role
The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) is offering a full‑time, unpaid internship in its Media Outreach & Spokesperson’s Office (MOSO) in Geneva. The intern will support the Section’s work in promoting the High Commissioner’s messages through media monitoring, press‑briefing preparation and public information outreach.
Key responsibilities
- Monitor international media and compile daily clippings on OHCHR activities, Treaty Bodies and Special Procedures.
- Assist in preparing materials for press conferences, bi‑weekly briefings and other media events.
- Research current human‑rights issues to support media and public‑information products.
- Support the Deputy Spokesperson or Public Information Officer in day‑to‑day tasks.
- Contribute to the dissemination of OHCHR’s work through newsletters, press releases and social‑media content.
Required profile
- Enrolled university student or recent graduate from any academic background.
- Strong interest in the United Nations and commitment to the UN Charter and human‑rights principles.
- Ability to work effectively with colleagues from diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
