Intern – Programme Management (I)

About the role

The United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) is seeking a six‑month Programme Management Intern to support its Interagency Cooperation Unit. The internship runs from 1 August 2026 to 31 January 2027 and can be performed remotely or on‑site in Geneva.

Key responsibilities

• Draft background documents, reports, issue briefs, talking points, articles, presentations and meeting minutes.
• Assist in organising meetings, workshops, side events and support strategic engagement with UN system partners and other stakeholders.
• Provide logistical and administrative support for virtual and hybrid meetings and conferences.
• Collect and systematise information on disaster risk reduction practices and sustainable development, preparing briefing notes and data analyses.
• Support outreach and research activities linking disaster risk reduction with the Sustainable Development Goals and country‑level UN planning.
• Contribute to policy development by preparing background papers, analytical notes, report sections, talking points and speeches.
• Maintain databases, partner workspaces, websites and mailing lists.
• Assist in knowledge‑management and the production of communication materials for the UN Plan of Action on DRR for Resilience.

Required profile

• Current university student or recent graduate with a strong interest in disaster risk reduction and sustainable development.
• Excellent written communication and analytical abilities.
• Ability to work full‑time (five days a week) for the six‑month period.
• Fluency in English.
