About the role

The International, Impartial and Independent Mechanism (IIIM) seeks an intern to support its Information Systems Management Section in strengthening internet research, data protection and analysis practices. The position is based in Geneva and can be performed onsite, remotely or a mix of both.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct targeted open‑source research on political, economic, social, technological and legal aspects of the Syrian situation.
• Assist in data analysis, automation and script development to improve information‑management workflows.
• Research and summarise legal, policy and operational issues related to data protection and information governance.
• Compile findings into clear presentations for the IIIM team.
• Complete assigned tasks on time, maintain confidentiality and collaborate with colleagues.

Required profile

• Enrolled in or having completed a graduate‑level programme (second university degree or equivalent).
• Strong interest in international law, human rights or related fields.
• Ability to work full‑time (40 hours/week) and handle confidential information.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English.
