Internship - Software and Data Engineer (12 months, Rotkreuz)

About the role

Roche Diagnostics in Rotkreuz, Switzerland, is looking for a Digital & Analytics Intern (Software and Data Engineer) for a 12-month internship, starting preferably in January 2027. The internship is hybrid and suits candidates with a background in Data Engineering or Data Analytics & Science; expertise in every listed technology is not required. The internship cannot be combined with a university thesis.

Key responsibilities

• Work with business and process experts to understand operational challenges, turn them into clear requirements and define success criteria
• Design and build dashboards, analytical applications and lightweight web apps with Python, R or TypeScript, using React or FastAPI where appropriate
• Develop and improve data pipelines and transformations with SQL, Airflow and dbt
• Contribute to automation, DevOps and CI/CD practices, including testing, deployment and maintainable workflows
• Help with solution concepts, prototypes and feasibility assessments
• Contribute to data governance, data quality and digital engineering standards
• Communicate technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders through documentation, demos and presentations
• Work with Product Care data across supply, quality and engineering to improve data availability

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in a Master's degree or completed a Bachelor's within the last 12 months, preferably in Computer Science, Business Informatics, Data Science, AI or a related field
• Practical experience with at least one programming language (Python, TypeScript or R) and basic SQL experience
• Experience developing an application, analytical solution or substantial software project
• Fluent English; German is a plus
• Strong problem-solving, analytical and independent work skills
• For non-EU/Non-EFTA citizens: a university confirmation that the internship is mandatory and continuous enrolment during the internship

Required skills

• Preferred: Git, CI/CD, automated testing, React, FastAPI, dbt or Airflow
• Nice to have: AI agents, data visualization, building data products
