Junior Full-Stack Software Engineer

About the role

Join a talented team of engineers developing enterprise information systems for CERN's business functions. As a Junior Full-Stack Software Engineer you will work on end‑to‑end solutions, from backend services to modern web front‑ends, in an agile, self‑organised environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and test full‑stack enterprise applications.
• Implement frontend features using JavaScript frameworks (e.g., React) and backend services with Java and Spring Boot.
• Optimise SQL queries and integrate relational databases.
• Configure and debug integration, messaging and eventing systems.
• Provide user and production support for deployed applications.
• Collaborate with product managers, stakeholders and fellow engineers.
• Maintain and enhance legacy applications.
• Apply CI/CD pipelines and containerised development workflows.
• Contribute to continuous process improvement and knowledge sharing.

Required profile

• Motivated junior engineer eager to learn and contribute.
• Experience (or academic projects) with Java, Spring Boot and JavaScript front‑end frameworks such as React.
• Familiarity with SQL, relational databases and Java database integration.
• Experience working in agile development teams.
• Understanding of modern development workflows (Git, CI/CD, containerisation, GitOps).
