Kubernetes Platform Architect (vKS Application Engineer)

About the role

The vKS Platform Engineering team enables enterprise success with VMware Kubernetes Service (vKS) as part of VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF). As a vKS Application Engineer, you will work hands-on with enterprise customers, designing and validating solutions, running proof-of-concepts and guiding customers through their modernization journey. The role is remote.

Key responsibilities

• Act as a trusted advisor for enterprise customers, guiding design, validation and deployment of vKS solutions on VCF
• Collaborate with field account teams to align solution architecture with customer priorities
• Lead technical discovery sessions, workshops and proof-of-concepts
• Partner with sales to build customer proposals covering modernization goals, workload placement and operational transformation
• Advise on Kubernetes adoption, CI-CD integration and DevOps requirements for scalability, security and disaster recovery
• Build and share reference architectures, deployment patterns and technical assets
• Deliver technical presentations to architects and executive decision makers
• Provide field feedback to product management and engineering to influence the roadmap

Required profile

• 8-10+ years in technology-related roles, with depth in enterprise IT architecture, application modernization or cloud-native platforms
• Experience delivering technical solutions to enterprise customers and driving platform adoption
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or a related field, or equivalent experience
• Excellent communication, storytelling and presentation skills, and strong collaboration with sales teams
• Ability to travel up to 60% of the time
• Vertical or geo specialization in Telco, FSI and LATAM is a plus; thought leadership experience is a plus

Required skills

• Strong expertise in containers and a leading Kubernetes distribution (EKS, AKS, RH OCP/OPP, Rancher)
• VMware Cloud Foundation (vSphere, vSAN, NSX)
• Certifications in cloud-native or public cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, Red Hat RHCA/RHCE on OpenShift) are highly desirable
