Lab Development Engineer

About the role

VAT Group is seeking a Lab Development Engineer to join its R&D team in Haag, Switzerland. You will design and execute advanced testing and measurement methods for innovative product segments, collaborating closely with an incubator business unit and cross‑functional development teams.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement new testing and measurement methods for emerging product lines.
• Plan, execute, and analyse experiments in technology and product development projects.
• Build know‑how in new technologies and application areas.
• Provide metrology expertise and perform complex, customer‑specific tests beyond standard production capabilities.
• Conduct root‑cause analysis of product failures and support resolution of customer complaints.
• Ensure operational readiness and continuous improvement of laboratory equipment and infrastructure.
• Develop automated data‑processing, reporting, and visualization workflows.
• Contribute to standardisation, optimisation, and documentation of laboratory processes and test procedures.

Required profile

• PhD (highly preferred) or Master’s degree in Applied Physics, Vacuum Technology, Measurement Engineering, or a closely related field.
• Strong theoretical and hands‑on knowledge of vacuum technology and measurement methods.
