Lab Technician, Molecular Biology

About the role

Adaptyv is building an automated laboratory where AI agents design experiments, but human technicians run the wet‑lab work. As a Lab Technician in the Biology team you will execute molecular biology and protein production workflows, ensuring high‑quality, reproducible output for the company’s protein‑engineering pipeline.

Key responsibilities

• Perform molecular cloning workflows including PCR, Golden Gate and Gibson assembly, transformation, and colony screening.
• Run protein expression in bacterial and/or mammalian systems, followed by purification and quality‑control assays such as SDS‑PAGE and electrophoresis.
• Execute biophysical and functional characterization assays (binding kinetics, thermostability, BLI, SPR, ELISA).
• Prepare reagents, buffers and reaction mixes according to SOPs and operate automated liquid‑handling platforms.
• Track samples, inventory and consumables, and document experimental parameters to ensure traceability.

Required profile

• BS or MS in Biology, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Life‑Science Engineering or related field.
• At least 1 year of hands‑on laboratory experience in molecular biology.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to follow protocols precisely.
• Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, high‑throughput environment.

Required skills

• PCR, Golden Gate assembly, Gibson assembly, DNA purification, gel or capillary electrophoresis.
• Protein expression, purification and quality‑control techniques (SDS‑PAGE, Western blot).
• Experience with biophysical assays such as BLI, SPR, ELISA or thermostability measurements.
• Familiarity with laboratory automation or liquid‑handling systems is a plus.
