Mechanical Design Engineer – Fuel Cell Stack

About the role

EH Group Engineering is developing compact, high‑power‑density fuel cells for heavy‑duty mobility and stationary power. We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the design of the cell and stack architecture that powers our next‑generation products.

Key responsibilities

• Design and conceptualise fuel‑cell stack components such as end plates, compression and clamping hardware.
• Create 3D models, detailed drawings and apply GD&T with stack tolerance analysis.
• Apply design‑for‑manufacture (DFM) and design‑for‑assembly (DFA) principles to all stack parts.
• Support prototyping, stack build, leak testing and performance validation.
• Coordinate work between R&D and production teams.
• Collaborate with suppliers for component procurement and maintain accurate BOMs.
• Manage engineering changes using PDM and PLM tools.

Required profile

• BSc or MSc in Mechanical Engineering (mandatory).
• 4‑5 years of mechanical design experience in an engineering hardware environment; fuel‑cell or electrolyser experience is a plus.
• Strong English communication skills; additional French or German is advantageous.

Required skills

• Proficiency with 3D CAD, preferably SolidWorks.
• In‑depth knowledge of GD&T, DFM and DFA.
• Experience with thin‑metal forming, coating, laser welding and joining processes.
• Understanding of thermofluidic principles and fuel‑cell system behavior.
• Familiarity with sealing design, flow distribution, contact pressure and material corrosion.
• Competence in BOM management, PDM and PLM environments.
