Mechanical Designer – Bern

About the role

VSL is seeking a Mechanical Designer to join its Technology Business Line in Bern. The role focuses on drafting and designing concrete‑related mechanical components for structural and civil engineering projects, collaborating closely with internal engineers and an external drafting team in Spain.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and submit manufacturing drawings that meet company and industry standards.
• Support engineers by producing construction drawings and applying ISO/ASME GD&T standards.
• Perform tolerance stack‑up analyses to avoid assembly issues.
• Create comprehensive documentation for manufacturing and qualification procedures.
• Ensure quality standards throughout the design and drafting cycle.
• Write technical reports, present findings, and coordinate with colleagues in Switzerland and Spain.
• Travel to the Subingen site approximately once a month.

Required profile

• EFZ as Konstrukteur (Mechanical Designer) or equivalent technical education, or a Mechanical Engineering Technician HF diploma.
• 3–5 years of professional experience in a similar role.
• Strong knowledge of ISO/ASME GD&T standards and tolerance analysis.

Required skills

• Proficiency in SolidWorks.
• Experience with CATIA.
• Technical drafting and CAD expertise.
• Ability to perform tolerance stack‑up analyses.
• Familiarity with ISO/ASME GD&T standards.
