Description du poste

About the role

As a Mechanical Systems Engineer you will join the Modules team at NIL Technology in Horgen, Switzerland, working on optomechanical design of wafer‑level optical modules. You will translate optical requirements into robust mechanical solutions and help turn demonstrators into product‑like devices for customers.

Key responsibilities

  • Define optomechanical designs for lenses, sensors, apertures, alignment features and housings, setting tolerances for robustness and manufacturability.
  • Create 3D CAD models, assemblies and 2D production drawings with GD&T, and maintain clean design data for internal builds, suppliers and customers.
  • Perform tolerance stack‑up analyses and collaborate with the optical design team to assess mechanical and thermal impacts on optical performance.
  • Support the build of demonstrators and prototypes, designing housings, mounts and covers that look professional for customer meetings and trade shows.
  • Select suitable manufacturing processes (CNC machining, 3D printing, injection molding) and work with external suppliers to ensure timely delivery and specification compliance.
  • Design jigs, fixtures and alignment tools for module assembly and optical characterization in the lab and cleanroom.

Required profile

  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a mechanical or optomechanical development engineer in a high‑tech, optical or consumer electronics environment.
  • MSc in Mechanical Engineering, Microengineering or a related field.
  • Hands‑on, pragmatic mindset with the ability to work across optics, electronics and process teams.

Required skills

  • Expert in 3D CAD modeling (SolidWorks, Creo or Siemens NX) including production drawings and GD&T.
  • Experience in optomechanical design of camera, sensor or optical modules and tolerance analysis.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as injection molding, CNC machining, 3D printing and surface finishing.
  • Ability to create prototypes that look and feel like real products.
