Nutanix Engineer / Networking IT Support Engineer (Freelance, On-Call)

About the role

An experienced Nutanix Engineer / Networking IT Support Engineer is sought to provide Break & Fix support for enterprise infrastructure. This is a freelance, on-call position based in Bern, Switzerland, with immediate hiring priority.

Key responsibilities

• Provide onsite and remote Break & Fix support for networking and infrastructure incidents.
• Deploy, configure and manage Nutanix HCI environments (AOS, AHV, Prism).
• Perform system upgrades, patching and lifecycle management.
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, virtualization and network issues, including TCP/IP, VLANs, DNS and DHCP.
• Implement and support backup and disaster recovery solutions.
• Respond to critical incidents and service requests within agreed response times.
• Collaborate with global and regional teams on infrastructure and cloud projects.
• Maintain technical documentation, incident reports and service records.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in infrastructure, virtualization, networking or IT support engineering.
• Valid CCNA certification and a valid work permit.
• Fluent spoken and written English.
• Ability to work independently in customer-facing environments.
• Preferred: Nutanix certification (NCP or higher), cloud platform experience (AWS, Azure, GCP) and knowledge of Ansible and Terraform.

Required skills

• Nutanix ecosystem (AOS, AHV, Prism) and VMware/Hyper-V support.
• Networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, routing and switching.
• Backup and disaster recovery solutions.
• PowerShell and/or Python scripting is advantageous.
