Power Electronics Engineer for Traction Projects

About the role

ABB is looking for a Power Electronics Engineer to join its traction projects team in Untersiggenthal. You will work on designing and integrating traction power converters and energy storage systems for rail vehicles, collaborating with global engineering, production, R&D and project management teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design traction power electronics converters and energy storage systems (ESS) and ensure seamless vehicle integration.
• Lead specification, execution, analysis and documentation of type and qualification tests for converters and ESS.
• Develop deep expertise in core power‑engineering components and provide technical guidance to peers.
• Contribute to product standardisation and continuous improvement of traction product families.

Required profile

• Qualified Power Electronics/Electrical Engineer with solid design experience.
• Strong curiosity and commitment to continuous learning and knowledge sharing.
• Proactive problem‑solver who takes ownership and works well in inclusive teams.
• Fluent communication in English; German is a strong advantage.
• Willingness to travel occasionally for project support.
