Procurement Director – Global 3rd Party Actives

About the role

The Procurement Director – Global 3rd Party Actives is responsible for defining and executing sourcing strategies for third‑party active ingredients across FMC’s worldwide portfolio. With an annual spend of approximately $250 million, the role ensures competitive cost positions, supply resilience and freedom‑to‑operate throughout the product lifecycle. Reporting to the Chief Procurement Officer, the director leads a global team and works closely with Business Development, Commercial, Marketing and Technical functions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end reset of key third‑party active partnerships, including redesign of sourcing models and evaluation of make‑vs‑buy‑vs‑partner options.
• Develop and execute category strategies aligned with FMC portfolio priorities, covering new product introductions, cost improvement and strategic alliances.
• Conduct should‑cost modeling, total cost of ownership analysis and multi‑year cost‑reduction roadmaps to achieve competitive benchmarks.
• Manage supplier performance on cost, quality, reliability and innovation, balancing collaboration with competitive tension.
• Build dual‑sourcing and contingency plans to mitigate single‑source risks and address regulatory or freedom‑to‑operate challenges.
• Generate market intelligence on global supply bases, cost benchmarks and competitor positioning to inform negotiation strategies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (advanced degree preferred) with at least 10 years of experience in procurement or related functions within a regulated environment.
• Proven track record negotiating large, complex supply agreements and delivering category‑level cost savings.
• Experience in the crop‑protection or agricultural products industry is highly preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to work with business development, commercial and technical teams and to influence decisions without direct authority.
• Strong understanding of accounting and legal concepts relevant to procurement, such as contingent liability and most‑favoured‑nation clauses.
