Professorship in Applied Microeconomics (Open Rank)

About the role

The Faculty of Management, Economics and Social Sciences at the University of Fribourg invites applications for a professorship in applied microeconomics. The position is open rank (assistant, associate or full professor) and is expected to start on 1 August 2027. The role involves teaching in both French and English at bachelor and master levels and developing a research agenda in applied microeconomics.

Key responsibilities

• Teach two bachelor‑level microeconomics courses in French and additional courses in English.
• Supervise bachelor and master theses.
• Conduct research in applied microeconomics fields such as labour, health, education, competition, personnel or innovation economics.
• Develop and update master‑level courses within the applied microeconomics area.
• Manage a full‑time doctoral assistant.
• Contribute to departmental administration and curriculum development.

Required profile

• Doctorate (Ph.D.) in economics or a closely related discipline.
• Strong record of research publications in applied microeconomics.
• Proven university‑level teaching experience.
• Ability to supervise bachelor and master theses.
• Fluency in French; oral German at B1 level (or acquisition within two years).
• Commitment to a bilingual academic environment and gender equity.
