Professorship in Applied Microeconomics (Open Rank)

About the role

The University of Fribourg seeks an open‑rank professor in Applied Microeconomics to join its Department of Economics. This permanent position (90‑100% FTE) starts on 1 August 2027 or as agreed and includes a full‑time doctoral assistant.

Key responsibilities

• Teach Bachelor and Master courses in French and English, including two French‑language microeconomics courses at the Bachelor level.
• Develop and deliver Master‑level courses aligned with applied microeconomics topics such as labour, health, education, competition, personnel, or innovation economics.
• Maintain an active research agenda in applied microeconomics and publish in reputable journals.
• Supervise Bachelor’s and Master’s theses and mentor junior researchers.

Required profile

• Doctorate (Ph.D.) in economics or a closely related discipline.
• Demonstrated excellent research record in applied microeconomics.
• Strong teaching experience at the university level.
• Ability to supervise undergraduate and graduate theses.
• Fluency in French; oral German at B1 level (or acquisition within two years of appointment).
