Public Information Intern – UN OHCHR (Geneva)

About the role

The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) is seeking a Public Information Intern to support the Special Procedures Branch in Geneva. The internship lasts three months, with the possibility of extension to six months, and offers hands‑on experience in human‑rights communication and media monitoring.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor media and social‑media platforms for human‑rights related content.
• Analyse trends and topics emerging on social media.
• Select photos and design visual illustrations for social‑media posts.
• Assist in drafting and scheduling social‑media posts.
• Attend Human Rights Council sessions and support related event preparation.
• Help organise press conferences and other public‑information activities.
• Perform additional tasks as requested by the Special Procedure Media Officer.

Required profile

• Enrolled in a university programme (undergraduate or graduate).
• Strong interest in human rights and international affairs.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Ability to work in a multicultural, fast‑paced environment.
