Python Backend Engineer - Remote

About the role

We are seeking a seasoned software engineer to work remotely on a part‑time contract (10‑12 hours per week). You will help train and evaluate next‑generation AI systems by tackling real‑world backend, full‑stack, and infrastructure challenges. No prior AI experience is required – strong engineering judgment and clear technical communication are essential.

Key responsibilities

• Take on diverse engineering tasks across backend, full‑stack, and systems projects.
• Review, debug, improve, and document code in various technical environments.
• Design or evaluate solutions involving APIs, databases, services, integrations, testing, and deployment workflows.
• Identify trade‑offs related to scalability, performance, reliability, security, and developer experience.
• Communicate technical reasoning in writing, explaining decisions and alternatives.
• Collaborate with the client’s team on technical reviews and problem‑solving exercises.
• Quickly adapt to new codebases, frameworks, and requirements.

Required profile

• 5+ years of hands‑on software engineering experience.
• Strong experience in at least one backend or full‑stack environment (e.g., Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, Java, C#.NET, C++, Go, Ruby, PHP).
• Proven ability to build, maintain, or review production‑grade applications, APIs, services, and databases.
• Excellent written communication and the capacity to explain complex engineering decisions objectively.
