R&D Laboratory Infrastructure Technician (80-100%)

About the role

ABB is looking for a skilled technician to support the modification, refurbishment and upgrade of its research laboratories. You will work closely with researchers and laboratory managers to ensure the infrastructure meets experimental needs.

Key responsibilities

• Responsible for laboratory modifications, refurbishments, renovations and facility upgrades.
• Support planning, coordination and execution of experimental setups with researchers and lab managers.
• Maintain and renew research‑specific infrastructure, including climate control and ventilation systems.
• Review and approve supplier service reports, invoices and project time‑tracking records.

Required profile

• Completed vocational training in a skilled trade, preferably plumbing or electrical installation.
• 3‑5 years of relevant professional experience.
• Strong technical understanding, hands‑on and versatile approach.
• Project management competence, good communication and teamwork skills.
• Flexible, resilient, proactive and solution‑oriented mindset.
• Fluent German (spoken and written) and good command of English.
