Regional Coordinator – CITES Tree Species Project (Africa)

About the role

The Regional Coordinator will support the launch and implementation of the CITES Tree Species Project across the Africa region. Working primarily from home, the role involves electronic coordination, reporting and occasional field missions to ensure high‑quality project outputs.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate the implementation of shortlisted CITES Tree Species projects in target African countries.
• Map planned activities, track progress and ensure alignment with project objectives.
• Produce a final report summarising results, outputs and activities achieved.
• Maintain regular communication with the CITES Secretariat via email and online meetings.
• Participate in field missions and international meetings as required, following the CITES travel policy.

Required profile

• Proven experience in project coordination, preferably in environmental or biodiversity programmes.
• Familiarity with CITES, sustainable forest governance and UN Sustainable Development Goals.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks remotely and deliver high‑quality written outputs.
• Willingness to travel for field missions and meetings when resources allow.
