Research Fellow – Sustainable Business & Risk Resilience

About the role

The International Institute for Management Development (IMD) seeks a Research Fellow to join its Risk & Resilience Initiative. The role focuses on integrating scientific insights on planetary boundaries and doughnut economics into corporate governance and risk management, helping boards and investors make sustainability‑driven decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Co‑develop and conduct novel research that bridges Earth‑system science with business relevance.
• Translate scientific evidence into management‑focused publications for top‑tier academic journals and practitioner outlets.
• Produce reports, case studies, and teaching materials that disseminate research findings.
• Manage the full publication process, ensuring timely submission and peer‑review compliance.
• Collaborate with senior faculty and an international network of researchers.

Required profile

• Natural scientist or engineer with a strong interest in sustainable business practice.
• Proven ability to integrate scientific evidence with business contexts.
• Experience in academic research, publishing, and knowledge translation.
• Excellent written communication skills for both academic and practitioner audiences.
