Safety Engineer

About the role

Astrelya is seeking a Safety Engineer to join its highly regulated technical environment, supporting teams that develop safety‑critical software and equipment. You will lead safety activities across the full development lifecycle, ensuring compliance with aerospace standards and regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead safety engineering from design through validation, producing analyses such as FHA, FMEA, FTA, and Hazard Logs.
• Identify and assess software and equipment risks, define mitigation measures, and assess safety impact of changes, anomalies, and incidents.
• Prepare documentation for clients and authorities, support audits, and ensure compliance with standards like EASA DPO Framework and EU 2023/1768 & 2023/1769.

Required profile

• Higher education qualification in Computer Science.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in software safety engineering, preferably in aeronautics or aerospace.
• Experience working in regulated environments and strong analytical attention to detail.
• Fluent English; French is a plus.

Required skills

• Knowledge of regulations and standards: EASA DPO Framework, EU 2023/1768 & 2023/1769, ED‑153, ED‑109A, ED‑205A.
• Proficiency with safety and risk analysis methods: SWAL, FHA, FMEA, FTA, Hazard Analysis, FDIR, HSIA.
• Familiarity with additional standards: ARP4761, DO‑178C/ED‑12C, DO‑278A.
