Scientific Associate, Biochemistry, Oncology

About the role

Novartis is looking for a Scientific Associate to join its Oncology Biochemistry group in Basel. You will develop innovative assays, characterize protein targets and help uncover the mechanisms of promising anticancer compounds.

Key responsibilities

• Design and execute biochemical and biophysical assays, with a focus on surface plasmon resonance.
• Characterize protein targets and support low‑molecular‑weight and radioligand therapy projects.
• Profile compounds, analyse protein‑ligand interactions and document results in electronic lab notebooks.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary, cross‑functional and multi‑site teams and present findings to internal stakeholders.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biochemistry, Biophysics or a related field (not a PhD or post‑doc).
• Hands‑on laboratory experience with biochemical assays and biophysical methods.
• Practical knowledge of laboratory automation and fluency in English.

Required skills

• Time‑resolved fluorescence resonance energy transfer (TR‑FRET) assays.
• Fluorescence polarization and enzyme assay techniques.
• Surface plasmon resonance (SPR) for protein‑ligand interaction analysis.
• Data analysis and standard‑curve fitting for binding studies.
