Security Coordination Officer

About the role

The International, Impartial and Independent Mechanism (IIIM) in Geneva is seeking a Security Coordination Officer to lead the coordination and management of security and safety for its staff, offices and field operations. Reporting directly to the Head of the Mechanism, the officer will ensure a cost‑effective security presence across all programme areas.

Key responsibilities

• Advise the Head of the Mechanism on security risk management, policies and procedures.
• Participate as a member of the Security Management Team and forecast evolving security environments.
• Analyse security threats, develop risk‑management strategies and produce security planning documents.
• Coordinate security operations, investigate incidents and deliver training to staff.
• Liaise with local authorities and other agencies to implement security plans.
• Prepare written analyses of security trends and report incidents.
• Support line managers with security advice and oversee security‑related projects.

Required profile

• Proven experience in security coordination or risk management within an international or UN context.
• Strong analytical skills to assess multi‑dimensional threats and emerging trends.
• Ability to develop and implement security policies and procedures.
• Excellent communication skills for liaison with authorities and internal stakeholders.
• Capacity to deliver training and briefings on security matters.
