Senior Backend Engineer – Booking Platform

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to design and build high‑performance booking services for a global SaaS platform. The role is fully remote and focuses on modernising a monolithic architecture into scalable, service‑oriented components that power seamless guest experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services using PHP and Go for high‑traffic booking flows.
• Lead the extraction of services from a monolithic system, defining ownership, migration strategies, and resilient architectures.
• Collaborate with product, design, and frontend teams to deliver features that improve conversion and usability.
• Build clean, versioned APIs (REST, GraphQL) for traditional and AI‑driven integrations.
• Optimise system performance, reliability, and uptime to ensure smooth customer interactions.
• Participate in architectural planning and technical decision‑making for long‑term scalability.
• Leverage AI‑assisted coding tools to accelerate delivery and maintain engineering standards.

Required profile

• 6+ years of backend engineering experience with strong software fundamentals.
• Proven production‑grade experience with PHP and ability to work with Go.
• Experience building and operating high‑traffic, customer‑facing systems.
• Track record of decomposing monoliths into service‑oriented architectures.
• Familiarity with product‑oriented SaaS environments and cross‑functional collaboration.
