Senior Data Platform Engineer

About the role

Avaloq is looking for a Senior Data Platform Engineer to design, build and operate a scalable, secure and governed data platform that supports security, audit, operational and analytics workloads. You will work closely with security, infrastructure and application teams to deliver high‑quality data for monitoring, reporting, threat detection, compliance and business insights.

Key responsibilities

• Design and evolve scalable data platform architectures, defining storage strategies, schemas, partitioning and lifecycle management.
• Develop and maintain reliable batch and streaming pipelines for logs, audit data, security telemetry and operational datasets.
• Implement data modeling, optimization of database structures, and support lake, warehouse and lakehouse concepts.
• Define and enforce data quality controls, validation, reconciliation and governance processes.
• Integrate data from internal and external sources, delivering curated datasets for SIEM, BI and analytics platforms.
• Build automation and tooling using Python, SQL and Terraform, and contribute to CI/CD practices.

Required profile

• 8+ years of experience in data engineering, platform or database engineering.
• Strong SQL expertise, including schema design, query optimization and performance tuning.
• Proven experience designing and operating production‑grade batch and/or streaming pipelines.
• Hands‑on experience with Python and data integration from multiple sources.
• Experience working with sensitive, security‑relevant or regulated data.
