Senior Electrical Engineer – Waste-to-X Plants

About the role

Kanadevia Inova, a global player in waste infrastructure and waste-to-X technology, is looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer in Zurich. You will lead the electrical basic engineering for Waste-to-X plants, combining client specifications with regulatory standards, and act as product owner for the electrical systems.

Key responsibilities

• Develop electrical concepts, single-line diagrams and system architecture.
• Perform power system studies (short circuit, load flow, protection coordination) with tools such as DigSilent and ETAP.
• Size and specify key equipment such as power transformers, HV/MV/LV switchgear, UPS systems and instrument transformers.
• Coordinate interfaces between electrical systems and work with plant layout planners on cable routing and equipment placement.
• Prepare technical specifications, evaluate supplier bids and take part in vendor selection.
• Lead design and technical review meetings with clients and network operators.
• Mentor junior team members and develop processes.

Required profile

• Several years of experience in electrical engineering, especially power systems and industrial plant design.
• Ability to read, interpret and design electrical schematics and documentation.
• Understanding of project scheduling, cost awareness and deliverables for electrical projects.
• High level of autonomy, with the ability to prioritize tasks and make timely decisions.
• Excellent written and spoken English and confidence in cross-functional communication.

Required skills

• Power system analysis tools such as PowerFactory DigSilent and ETAP.
• Relay configuration software such as Siemens DIGSI and IEC 61850.
• EPLAN and Siemens SIMARIS (preferred).
• MS Office.
