Senior Machine Learning Engineer (Biometrics & Face Recognition)

About the role

Scandit is looking for a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to lead the development of face‑recognition and anti‑spoofing technology for its ID Capture team. You will own the full model lifecycle and ship high‑assurance biometric solutions that run directly on users' mobile devices.

Key responsibilities

• Design, train and evaluate models for face detection, recognition and 1:1 matching against ID document portraits.
• Support liveness and presentation‑attack detection (PAD) research and turn findings into product features.
• Define quality metrics, benchmarks and test sets that satisfy regulatory expectations.
• Own data collection, labeling strategy, prototyping, training, evaluation, debugging and integration.
• Collaborate with C++ engineers to optimise models for on‑device inference (quantisation, pruning, mobile runtimes).

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience as an ML engineer with production models shipped to real users.
• Hands‑on experience in biometrics such as face recognition, verification, liveness or PAD.
• Strong understanding of security‑sensitive evaluation metrics (FAR, FRR, bias, fairness, adversarial robustness).
• Ability to work across product, C++ and QA teams and communicate clearly.
