Senior Mechanical Engineer – Electric Powertrain

About the role

Flux Mobility AG, which develops electric light commercial vehicles in Winterthur, is looking for an experienced mechanical engineer to take responsibility for the mechanical development of its electric powertrain. You will own the mechanical architecture and design of key components such as the battery, power electronics, motor, gearbox, shafts, bearings and structural parts, working closely with the design, electrical and software teams.

Key responsibilities

• Take technical responsibility for the mechanical design of the electric powertrain in light commercial vehicles
• Perform mechanical and thermal sizing of gearboxes, shafts, housings and structural interfaces
• Carry out strength, durability and thermal calculations to validate the design
• Translate the mechanical architecture into robust, manufacturable components with the design team
• Integrate the powertrain with the electrical, software and workshop teams
• Plan and lead verification and validation with external development and test partners
• Support purchasing with supplier selection and aftersales with technical questions
• Analyse test results and field data to improve the design

Required profile

• Degree in mechanical engineering, automotive engineering or a comparable discipline
• At least 5 years of experience developing and designing mechanical systems
• Practical experience with drivetrain components such as gearboxes, shafts, bearings or structural parts
• Experience working with suppliers and development partners
• Ability to take technical ownership and develop complex systems
• Automotive experience is an advantage but not essential

• Mechanical calculation methods and simulation tools, for example FEM
• Ability to work across disciplines in a fast-moving team
