Senior Medical Director – Cardiology (EMEA)

About the role

The Senior Medical Director – Cardiology (EMEA) will provide medical leadership and expertise for clinical trials and safety evaluations within Thermo Fisher Scientific’s client environment. You will guide study teams, ensure scientific rigor, protect patient safety, and support the delivery of life‑changing therapies across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design and creation of clinical trial protocols, incorporating the latest scientific evidence.
• Participate in site selection, review and approval of study documents such as protocols, amendments, CSRs, ICFs, CRFs and protocol deviation decisions.
• Perform real‑time medical monitoring of studies to validate primary endpoints and ensure subject safety.
• Act as the primary medical liaison between sponsors and internal PPD departments throughout all study phases.
• Educate investigator sites through protocol‑specific presentations and laboratory procedure demonstrations.
• Respond to queries from investigators, IRBs and health authorities; provide medical training to site staff and CRA teams.
• Ensure compliance with SOPs, GCP and all relevant regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Medical degree with board certification in Cardiology.
• Extensive experience in clinical trial design, execution and safety monitoring, preferably in an EMEA setting.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary study teams and communicate effectively with sponsors, investigators and regulatory bodies.
• Strong understanding of clinical research regulations, SOPs and Good Clinical Practice.
