Senior OpenStack Engineer

About the role

A leading Swiss technology company is looking for an experienced Senior OpenStack Engineer to join its cloud infrastructure team in Zurich. You will play a key role in designing, operating and evolving a large-scale OpenStack platform that supports critical enterprise services.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and operate the company's OpenStack platform.
• Architect and optimise OpenStack Compute, Storage and Networking services.
• Automate deployments and operational processes using Ansible, OpenTofu and related tools.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure issues at 2nd and 3rd level.
• Collaborate closely with infrastructure and engineering teams.
• Provide technical leadership on architecture and technology decisions.
• Drive continuous improvements in cloud infrastructure, automation and platform reliability.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science or an equivalent technical qualification.
• Several years of experience designing and operating OpenStack environments.
• Fluent German (C1 level) and good English.
• Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation.

Required skills

• Strong Linux administration and container technologies.
• Hands-on experience with automation and configuration management tools such as Ansible and Infrastructure as Code.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems, networking and storage technologies.
