Senior PHP Engineer - Remote

About the role

A partner company, acting on behalf of a hiring partner, is recruiting a Senior PHP Engineer based in Switzerland. The role sits in a remote-first cybersecurity engineering team that builds integrations connecting security solutions with hosting control panels, content management systems and customer platforms. You will work on plugins, extensions and custom interfaces that help hosting providers protect against automated threats and web-based attacks.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, integrate and maintain PHP modules, extensions and plugins for hosting control panels such as cPanel, Plesk and DirectAdmin
• Build and maintain integrations with CMS such as WordPress, ensuring compatibility, reliability and security functionality
• Design and implement user interfaces for hosting panels and customer portals using HTML, CSS and JavaScript
• Support customers and internal teams in extending and adapting custom PHP client portals
• Develop event handlers and lightweight background applications running in a containerized infrastructure
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate PHP components with broader security products
• Contribute to the full software development lifecycle, from design and testing to deployment
• Apply web security principles and address scalability, availability, performance and reliability

Required profile

• At least 4 years of professional PHP software development experience, with a track record of long-term projects
• Solid understanding of the web (HTTP, client-server communication)
• Practical knowledge of web security principles and common vulnerabilities
• Experience building integrations, plugins or extensions for web platforms, CMS or hosting panels is highly relevant; hosting industry experience is an advantage
• Strong problem-solving, collaboration and time-management skills, suited to a fully remote environment

Required skills

• PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, SQL, XML and regular expressions
• Git, Docker and modern software development workflows
• Working knowledge of C++ or Go is a strong plus
• Beneficial: RabbitMQ, PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, Kubernetes, GitLab CI/CD
