Senior System Engineer (Cloud Native, Remote-First)

About the role

Adfinis, a Swiss company active in digital transformation since around 25 years, is looking for a Senior System Engineer within its Cloud Native stream. The role is 80-100% remote-first and involves leading challenging customer projects and acting as the Single Point of Contact for selected Service Level Agreements.

Key responsibilities

• Act as technical lead on complex projects and ensure quality standards are met.
• Lead technical discussions with demanding stakeholders, align expectations and turn ambiguity into clear next steps.
• Anticipate organizational and delivery risks and address them early in complex, high-pressure customer environments.
• Manage complex, critical systems, apply updates and resolve incidents.
• Plan and implement sophisticated multi-cloud or on-premises platforms.
• Provide comprehensive support, tackle high-priority issues and help junior and professional team members in critical situations.

Required profile

• Five to eight years of experience as a system engineer in cloud environments.
• Broad experience in software development, cloud migration and platform engineering.
• Ability to identify security vulnerabilities early and improve or build automations.
• Strong client focus, risk awareness, proactive problem solving, quality orientation and hands-on support for colleagues.

Required skills

• DevOps background: CNCF and HashiCorp stacks, GitLab, Kubernetes, OpenShift, Helm, DevSecOps, IaC and GitOps.
• Strong networking skills and ability to design networks from advanced concepts.
• Nice to have: German (written and spoken), GitLab, IBM, Red Hat and/or SUSE certifications, AWS, Azure and/or GCP certifications, and experience with SUSE products.
