Senior Technical Adviser – Export Quality Management

About the role

The International Trade Centre is seeking a Senior Technical Adviser to lead the consolidation and modernization of its Export Quality Management (EQM) offering. Based in Geneva, you will shape the quality component of trade‑related technical assistance programmes, supporting MSMEs in developing countries to meet export standards and overcome technical barriers.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design, implementation and evaluation of export quality components within technical assistance programmes.
• Oversee programme development, monitoring and assessment, guiding project teams and ensuring alignment with ITC’s strategic objectives.
• Coordinate gender mainstreaming across all activities, assessing impacts on men and women and integrating corrective actions.
• Conduct research and programme evaluations on export quality management, synthesising findings for internal and external stakeholders.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of technical barriers to trade, sanitary and phytosanitary measures and emerging trade‑related technologies.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in export quality management, technical assistance or related trade facilitation for MSMEs.
• Proven ability to lead multi‑disciplinary teams and manage complex international projects.
• Strong understanding of gender mainstreaming principles and their application in development programmes.
• Excellent analytical and reporting skills, with experience in research and programme evaluation.
