Sensor and Automation Specialist/Engineer

About the role

Group Engineering in Dübendorf is looking for a Sensor and Automation Specialist/Engineer to join its team. You will support or lead research and development projects on sensors, test machines and automation, and work in a young, international environment.

Key responsibilities

• Support or lead R&D projects on sensors, test machines and automation
• Manage programming and automation of machines and of a production MES
• Design, build, improve and maintain advanced test benches in the lab
• Support the layout and organisation of a new lab or building
• Design and run initial sample and proof-of-concept tests
• Prepare engineering documentation and presentations
• Organise and contribute to meetings and events with internal and external parties
• Plan projects and estimate risks against technical delays
• Collaborate with international teams and work with a customer orientation

Required profile

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics Systems and Controls, Automation Engineering, Mechatronics or equivalent; a Bachelor's degree may suffice with relevant expertise
• Solid background in mechanical engineering and programming
• Professional level of English and German
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills

Required skills

• Expertise in sensors, actuators, electronics and control systems theory
• Programming such as C#, WinForms, MS SQL, PLCs (Siemens/Beckhoff/B&R), Python and Arduino
• Electric circuit design and E-CAD tools are a plus
• Experience building machines is a plus
