Shipping Coordinator

About the role

Sotheby's is seeking a Shipping Coordinator to manage logistics for fine art and rare objects across Switzerland and Germany. The role ensures timely, cost‑effective delivery while complying with all relevant laws and regulations, providing an integrated service for both clients and internal teams.

Key responsibilities

• Arrange shipping and related logistics for all property, coordinating with Pre‑Sale and Post‑Sale colleagues.
• Obtain and evaluate quotes from shippers and service providers, selecting optimal options.
• Assess shipment requirements, including transport method, packing, and licensing (e.g., CITES).
• Issue instructions to vendors for packing, local transport, shipping, and security.
• Monitor shipment progress, troubleshoot issues, and keep stakeholders informed.
• Allocate tariffs for international imports/exports and maintain all required documentation.
• Identify consolidation opportunities to maximize efficiency and reduce costs.
• Provide performance feedback on shippers and support KPI maintenance.

Required profile

• Strong expertise in logistics and shipping coordination for high‑value items.
• Ability to liaise effectively with vendors, internal teams, and regulatory bodies.
• Attention to detail in documentation, licensing, and compliance.
• Proactive problem‑solving skills to resolve shipping enquiries and issues.
