Software Engineer - Back-End (Storage)

About the role

Proton is looking for a Back‑End Software Engineer to join its Storage Development team. You will help build and maintain the core storage infrastructure that powers millions of users worldwide, ensuring reliability, scalability and security.

Key responsibilities

• Own operational excellence of storage‑related systems and their integration with other services.
• Collaborate with Back‑End Engineers and Architects to design massively‑scalable solutions.
• Work with SRE teams and stakeholders to meet business‑critical reliability targets.
• Document back‑end capabilities and best‑practice usage.
• Create technical designs and implement them to evolve the storage platform.

Required profile

• Deep experience in back‑end development using C++, Go, Rust or PHP.
• Proven track record building complex production systems.
• Familiarity with profiling methods and tools.
• Experience leading initiatives from discovery through production.
• Solid understanding of security best practices and cryptography concepts.
