Software Engineer, Backend – Core/API & Process Automation

About the role

We are looking for a Backend Software Engineer to design and enhance the core systems that power next‑generation business process automation. Based in Switzerland, you will join a remote‑first team building event‑driven, high‑performance backend solutions that support enterprise workflows at global scale.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and evolve backend features for event‑sourced workflow engines and APIs.
• Implement clean, scalable APIs with a focus on developer experience and backward compatibility.
• Tackle distributed‑system challenges such as event sourcing, CQRS, concurrency, ordering, and reliability.
• Optimize performance by identifying inefficient processing patterns and improving data access across storage technologies.
• Build observability capabilities including logging, metrics, tracing, and monitoring.
• Contribute to innovative automation features that enable intelligent agents to interact with business processes.
• Maintain high engineering standards through code reviews, testing, documentation, and continuous improvement.
• Participate in production support and on‑call duties as experience grows.
