Software Engineer, Command Centre (Vision)

About the role

As a Software Engineer on the Command Centre team, you will own the vision‑agents service that transforms camera and robot feeds into trusted alerts for operators. You will build, optimise and maintain real‑time computer‑vision pipelines that run on GPU servers both on‑premise and in the cloud.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain the end‑to‑end vision‑agents service, ensuring high code quality, performance and reliability on live sites.
• Handle RTSP ingest, GStreamer/DeepStream pipelines, batching, reconnections and dynamic camera management.
• Develop detection, tracking and cross‑camera re‑identification using closed‑set and open‑vocabulary models.
• Integrate vision‑language models for natural‑language monitoring and alert generation.
• Create fixture‑based evaluations and benchmarks to validate model and prompt changes.
• Optimise GPU usage with TensorRT, INT8/FP16 quantisation and admission control for multiple streams.
• Implement privacy‑by‑design features such as privacy zones and face pixelation.
• Deploy containers on Kubernetes for both on‑prem and cloud environments.

Required profile

• 3+ years of experience building and operating computer‑vision or ML systems in production.
• Strong Python programming skills and solid software‑engineering practices (async services, testing, profiling, clean interfaces).
• Hands‑on experience with object detection, multi‑object tracking and re‑identification across multiple cameras.
• Experience with real‑time video pipelines (RTSP, GStreamer, DeepStream) and hardware decoding.
• Proficiency in model optimisation and serving (ONNX, TensorRT, quantisation, vLLM or similar).
