Software Engineer Embedded AI (m/f/d)

About the role

Sonova R&D develops hearing devices and is deploying neural networks on its next-generation embedded platform. As Software Engineer Embedded AI you will build the embedded AI software stack that underpins the company's edge AI capabilities, bridging advanced AI and ultra-low-power embedded systems.

Key responsibilities

• Develop firmware for a deeply embedded AI platform under strict latency, memory, compute and energy constraints.
• Design, implement and maintain the embedded AI software stack, optimising for performance, latency and energy efficiency.
• Work with AI and DSP experts to analyse and deploy DNN algorithms in hearing-device applications.
• Tailor AI algorithms to the platform's constraints (quantization, memory, compute and power).
• Build prototypes, bring them to production-ready features and integrate them with other engineering teams.
• Ensure software quality through clean code, code reviews, testing, documentation, maintenance and root-cause analysis.
• Improve development methodologies, tools, design patterns and best practices for ML/DNN development and deployment.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
• Strong hands-on experience with embedded C++, Python and object-oriented programming.
• Experience developing and deploying neural networks on embedded systems.
• Fluent English with strong written and verbal communication skills.

Required skills

• Familiarity with deployment frameworks such as TensorFlow Lite, ONNX, TVM or ExecuTorch.
• Knowledge of embedded compilers, micro-NPUs and system-level simulation.
• CUDA knowledge is an advantage; knowledge of audio or digital signal processing and experience bringing features to products are also advantages.
